I am neither from the US nor am I a Chinese. But I spent a considerable amount of time watching American TV shows and all I can derive is Americans are really into 'Chinese' fast food. So, I thought why not see what it's all about and make a vegan version of it?
INGREDIENTS
2 cups of cauliflower florets, steamed or blanched
Juice of one whole orange
2 tbsp of soy sauce
1 tbsp of brown sugar
A pinch of of turmeric powder
Grated orange peel
A clove of garlic, minced
DIRECTIONS
- Saute garlic in a medium-heated pan. Add in turmeric powder, orange juice, soy sauce and sugar.
- Simmer and stir for 5 mins.
- Add cauliflower in and toss until well coated.
- Serve with warm rice.
NOTES
- Alternatively, you can coat the cauliflower with batter and deep-fry/pan-fry/bake it until golden and crispy before tossing it with the sauce.
